What the dating profile review checks

Every photo is scored on four things you can actually change. Attractiveness, age, race and body type are never part of the score.

Facial Presentation

Expression, eye contact, head angle, and whether your face reads clearly at thumbnail size.

Quick fix: Face a window for soft light, relax your jaw, and look just past the lens.

Presence & Dominance

Posture and framing — how confidently you take up the frame.

Quick fix: Shoulders back, weight on one leg, and crop from the chest up for your main photo.

Status & Environment

The setting and background, and whether it looks intentional rather than accidental.

Quick fix: Swap the bathroom mirror or messy bedroom for a café, a street, or somewhere outdoors.

Style & Grooming

Outfit, fit, colour and overall tidiness.

Quick fix: Wear one solid colour that fits well; a fresh haircut shows more than you'd think.

Rate my Tinder profile: what your score means

Use the score to compare your own photos and decide which one leads. Your main photo does most of the work on every app, so review it first.

ScoreRatingWhat to do
80–100StrongLead with it. This photo is doing its job.
60–79GoodKeep it, but fix the lowest-scoring area before using it as your main photo.
40–59Needs workUsable as a secondary photo at best. One or two fixes usually move it a long way.
0–39WeakReplace it. It is likely costing you more than it helps.

How to get a better score

  1. 1. Fix the light first. Soft, even light on your face lifts every other score. Face a window or shoot outdoors in shade; avoid overhead bulbs and harsh midday sun.
  2. 2. Make your face easy to read. No sunglasses, hats or heavy filters in your main photo, and no group shots where people have to guess which one is you.
  3. 3. Frame for a small screen. Chest-up for the first photo, one full-body photo later in the profile. Hold the camera at eye level or slightly above.
  4. 4. Choose the background on purpose. A café, a street, a hike or a hobby says more about you than a bathroom mirror — and gives people something to message about.
  5. 5. Show variety across your photos. Different settings, outfits and activities. Five near-identical selfies score fine individually and still make a weak profile.
